A member of the Esplanade Association staff taking a break on one of the Centennial Chairs.

To celebrate the centennial of the Esplanade in 2010, the DCR convened a group of park advocates to brainstorm ideas that would both mark the occasion and improve the park. Comfortable Adirondack-style chairs for the new docks was an idea offered by the Solomon Foundation. They were popular from the moment they were installed – with requests for more.

Located on five docks on the Charles River Esplanade.
